Three new ETFs and 30 ETPs listed on London Stock Exchange in December

Three new exchange-traded funds and 30 other exchange-traded products were listed on the London Stock Exchange in December, bringing the total number of ETFs and ETPs listed on the exchange during 2016 to 125 and 50 respectively.

As of the end of 2016, there are 884 ETFs and 441 other ETPs listed on London Stock Exchange.

UBS launched 30 ETCs in December, bringing their total number of other ETPs to 107.

BMO launched the BMO MSCI Emerging Markets Income Leaders UCITS ETF (LON: ZIEM), a multi-factor ETF tracking the MSCI Emerging Markets Select Quality Yield Index, which first screens stocks for quality before selecting those with the highest dividend yields. The launch is an extension to the firm’s existing suite of Income Leaders ETFs which also offers exposure to the US, UK, and Europe ex-UK markets. The fund trades in British pounds and has a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.38%.

Vanguard listed the Vanguard USD Emerging Markets Government Bond UCITS ETF (LON: VDET), which offers regional exposure to USD denominated debt issued by governments in emerging markets. The fund tracks the Bloomberg Barclays USD Emerging Markets Sovereign and Quasi Sovereign Index and has a TER of 0.25% making it the most competitively priced ETF in its peer group, according to Bloomberg.

iShares unveiled the iShares OMX Stockholm Capped UCITS ETF (LON: OMXS), giving exposure to the 80 largest and most frequently traded stocks listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The fund tracks the OMX Stockholm Benchmark Cap Index (constituents are weighted by free float market capitalization with a maximum weight of 10%) and has a TER of just 0.10%.

Total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs in December 2016 was £35.1bn (315k trades), up by 64% compared to December 2015 while total on-exchange value traded for ETFs and other ETPs in 2016 was £386.9bn (3.7m trades), up by 51% compared to 2015.

There are now 884 ETFs (available as 1,360 lines through multi-currency offerings) and 441 other ETPs (available as 501 lines) on London Stock Exchange.
