Vanguard unveils suite of actively managed factor ETFs in US

Vanguard has launched six new factor-based ETFs — the firm’s first actively managed ETFs in the US — on Cboe ETF Marketplace. The suite consists of five single factor funds, targeting exposure to the minimum volatility, value, momentum, liquidity, and quality factors, and a multi-factor approach, each within the US equities universe. Vanguard CEO Tim Buckley, commented, “The newly launched factor funds represent a differentiated approach – disciplined, rules-based, targeted exposure to factors – along with Vanguard’s low costs.”



Mirae anchors US presence by buying ETF provider Global X

Global X, the seventeenth-largest US-based ETF issuer, has entered into an agreement to sell 100% of its fully diluted shares to Mirae Asset Global Investments, an independent financial services business based in Asia. “With Global X on board, we are now connecting one of the most successful US ETF firms to a prominent Asian-based global ETF manager, creating a powerful ETF platform.” said Taeyong Lee, president, global head of ETFs for Mirae Asset.



Vanguard REIT ETF changes its index

Vanguard has changed the underlying index for the Vanguard REIT ETF (VNQ US) from the MSCI US REIT Index to the MSCI US Investable Market Real Estate 25/50 Transition Index, including a broader scope of real estate related companies such as those involved in services and development.

Vanguard Investments Canada has listed three new multi-asset ETFs of ETFs – each among the lowest cost for their categories – on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Bullish outlook for dividends bodes well for high income ETFs

The findings of a report by IHS Markit could mean high dividend ETFs are in for a strong year. The IHS Markit Dividend Forecasting Report predicts that 2018 will be the third consecutive year of increasing global dividends and will also see the fastest dividend growth since 2014. Emerging markets are expected to lead the way. Thomas Matheson, head of dividend research at IHS Markit, commented, “We expect to see stronger performance across sectors, coupled with resurgent growth in Europe and a notable decrease in dividend cuts.”

Vanguard cross-lists Euro Stoxx 50 ETF to SIX

Vanguard has cross-listed the Vanguard Euro Stoxx 50 UCITS ETF (VX5E SW) on SIX Swiss Exchange, offering another access point for investors seeking exposure to mega-cap blue-chip stocks in the eurozone. The ETF, which is based on the widely followed Euro Stoxx 50 index, is already available on the London Stock Exchange and on Deutsche Börse.
