Equium Capital rolls out ETF share class of tactical allocation fund

Toronto-based Equium Capital has unveiled an ETF share class for its active global tactical allocation fund, which was launched in March 2017. The ETF shares will trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the name Equium Global Tactical Allocation Fund (ETAC).

The new ETF share class will trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The fund invests in a mix of global equities, fixed income, derivative and money market securities with the aim of long-term capital appreciation while providing enhanced capital protection. Securities are selected using a hybrid process of technical and fundamental research to evaluate attractiveness, while other factors such as the economic cycle, relative interest rates, and stock market valuations are also considered

As of 31 October, the top ten holdings of the fund were all ETFs. The largest four holdings are the Vanguard Canadian Aggregate Bond Index ETF (VAB CN), the iShares Core S&P/TSX Capped Composite ETF (XIC CN), the iShares MSCI ACWI ETF (ACWI US), and the iShares Core US Aggregate Bond Index ETF (AGG US), each with a weight of between 12% and 13%. These four ETFs incidentally track the four indices the fund is benchmarked to.

The next six largest holdings include the iShares MSCI France ETF (EWQ US) (6.1% of the weight), the iShares US Aerospace & Defence ETF (ITA US) (5.6%), the iShares US Broker-Dealers & Exchanges ETF (IAI US) (5.0%), and the iShares US Medical Devices ETF (IHI US) (4.3%).

The sector exposure breakdown shows the fund has significant weights to financials (21.7%), healthcare (14.6%) and industrials (14.4%).

Its annual management fee is 0.95%.
