JP Morgan launches five single factor ETFs on NYSE Arca

JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has launched five smart beta ETFs on NYSE Arca. The ETFs each select US equities that display high exposure to one of five factors: momentum, value, quality, dividend and minimum volatility.

Virtus launches emerging markets multi-factor ETF

Virtus ETF solutions has launched the Virtus Glovista Emerging Markets ETF (EMEM US) on the NYSE Arca. The fund uses a quantitative multi-factor strategy to provide exposure to ‘favoured’ emerging markets. William Smalley, executive managing director of Virtus, commented: “This new ETF offers investors exposure to the surge in global economic growth, leveraging the specialized knowledge and quantitative skills of Glovista Investments in a passive, tax-efficient vehicle.”

Commenting on the launch, Clarisse Djabbari, deputy head of Lyxor ETFs & indexing, said: “This ETF marks an important step in our progress towards a complete range of environmental, social and governance based investment products.” The ETF is linked to the Equileap Global Gender Equality Index, an index of 150 high-ranking stocks based on gender equality.

ETFs tracking the FTSE 100 Index have rallied as the UK blue-chip index closed at a new record high of 7,560 on Friday 3 November 2017, driven by a strong global economy and a weak pound. Laith Khalaf, senior analyst at brokers Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “Stock market investors continue to reap the rewards of loose monetary policy and an improving global economy.”

Horizons ETFs has launched the Horizons Active AI Global Equity ETF (MIND) on the Toronto Stock Exchange. MIND is Canada’s first ETF to use artificial intelligence for all security selection decisions. Deutsche cross-lists six US sector ETFs to SIX

Deutsche Asset Management has cross-listed six US sector ETFs onto SIX Swiss Exchange. The ETFs, which are linked to MSCI indices, are listed in dollars and provide exposure to US equities in the consumer discretionary, consumer staples, financials, information technology, healthcare and energy sectors. Simon Klein, head of passive distribution, EMEA and APAC, commented: “The new sector ETFs give investors the flexibility to trade at a more granular level than region or country. As ETFs are used more tactically, this kind of granularity is important.”
