Horizons ETFs Management has changed the underlying index for the Horizons S&P 500 Covered Call ETF (NYSE Arca: HSPX). According to Jonathan Molchan, head of product development at Horizons ETFs, the primary rationale behind the conversion was to “enhance the tax efficiency of the covered call strategy”.

Evolve Funds has introduced two thematic ETFs to the Canadian market. The first-of-their-kind ETFs in Canada, the Evolve North American Gender Diversity Index ETF (HERS) and the Evolve Cyber Security Index ETF (CYBR), have begun to trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Although gold prices erased most of the past month’s gains, inflows into gold ETFs rose to $39 million in the week beginning 18 September 2017, marking a three-week high, according to weekly flows analysis from ETF securities. Nitesh Shah, director, commodity strategy at ETF Securities said that investors were seeking a safe haven asset in light of geopolitical tensions in spite of action from the Fed that caused gold price weakness.

FTSE Russell and the State Bank of India (SBI) have teamed up to launch the FTSE SBI Bond Index Series. The market-capitalisation weighted, total-return indices measure the performance of fixed income bonds issued in India in Indian rupees (INR) by the Indian government.

Insurance and financial services firm Nationwide has launched three new smart beta ETFs that give exposure to US and international equities while aiming to lower risk compared to market cap-weighted indices. The ETFs, listed on the NYSE Arca, are the first issued by the firm and form part of a wider trend of ETF launches from non-specialist providers.

RBC Global Asset Management has launched seven ETFs on the Aequitas NEO Exchange. The new ETFs track indices provided by FTSE Russell and Citi, and feature exposure to fixed income and equities in Canada, the US and globally.

UBS has launched the UBS MSCI Australia UCITS ETF (AUSAUY) on Switzerland’s SIX Exchange, providing exposure to the large- and mid-cap segments of the Australian equity universe.
