Veteran investor Blair Hull sought the Illinois Democratic Party’s nomination as candidate for the US Senate in 2004.

The fund, which will be launched under the HTAA (Hull Tactical Asset Allocation) brand, will utilise advanced algorithms as well as macro and technical indicators to anticipate future market returns.

The strategies to be employed by the fund have been stress-tested with over 20 years of historical data and have evolved from tactical allocation models and systems developed and traded by Blair Hull and his team at Hull Investments over the last 6 years.

Blair Hull, Chairman of Hull Investments, is the founder of Ketchum Trading and the former CEO and Chairman of Hull Trading Co, an algorithmic trading firm and electronic market maker, which was sold to the investment bank Goldman Sachs in 1999 for $531 million. Hull is also an active supporter of the Democratic Party and sought the Illinois Democratic Party’s nomination as candidate for the US Senate in 2004.

He said: “Proprietary trading firms and hedge funds have been successfully deploying ever more powerful computer modeling and programmed trading capabilities to make money for their own accounts. We want to completely open this up and radically expand investor access to these advanced models and systems.”

HTTA will be the latest investment advisor to capitalise on Exchange Traded Concepts’ SEC exemptive relief and “ETF in a box” solution to launch an ETF. Others include Yorkville, AlphaClone, Horizions, YieldShares and VelocityShares.

According to Hull: “Exchange Traded Concepts’ unique service model was a natural fit for HTAA. We look forward to combining HTAA’s legacy of intelligent and disciplined innovation with ETC’s proven track record over the past year to launch the ETF on ETC’s platform.”

J. Garrett Stevens, CEO of Exchange Traded Concepts, added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Blair and his distinguished team. Their extensive industry experience and uniquely innovative approach to research make this an exciting launch for ETC to be involved with.”
