Vanguard changes indices underlying three bond ETFs

Vanguard has announced a change in indices underlying three of its government bond ETFs. The changes, which are due to take place during the fourth quarter of 2017, will see the ETFs’ underlying indices transition to pure Treasury indices. The move is expected to provide more targeted exposure to segments of the US government bond market and may potentially reduce bid-ask spreads.

Global YTD ETP flows surpass 2016 total, finds ETFGI

Exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded products listed globally gathered $43.5 billion in net new assets during July, bringing year-to-date (YTD) flows to $391.3bn and passing the $390.4bn recorded during all of last year, according to ETF industry consultant ETFGI. The strong demand for ETFs/ETPs during July marked the 41st consecutive month of positive net inflows for the industry.

Deutsche launches smart beta emerging markets bond ETF on Deutsche Börse

Deutsche Asset Management has unveiled the db x-trackers iBoxx USD Emerging Sovereigns Quality Weighted EUR-hedged UCITS ETF (XQUE) on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra and Frankfurt exchanges. The fund provides smart beta exposure to high quality emerging market government bonds while mitigating currency risk between the US dollar-denominated bonds and the ETF’s trading currency – the euro.

Total assets under management in US-listed exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded products reached $2.973 trillion at the end of the first half of 2017, according to London-based ETF industry consultant ETFGI. ETFs/ETPs listed in the US gathered a record $46.6 billion net inflows in June, marking the 16th consecutive month of positive net new asset flows for the region.

BlackRock reports near-record flows into bond ETFs during Q2 2017

Exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded products listed globally gathered record net inflows of $63.6bn in June and $347.7bn over the first half of this year, according to research by ETF industry consultant ETFGI. This marks a significant increase compared to the net inflows of $123.5bn recorded over the first six months of 2016.



Schwab files for first ETF launch in four years

Investors want more ETFs as smart beta stirs interest

Charles Schwab has filed a regulatory request with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list its first ETF since 2013. The fund, named the Schwab 1000 Index ETF, will track an in-house index composed of the largest 1,000 US stocks by market cap putting the fund in direct competition with ETFs that track the Russell 1000 Index.
