European-listed ETF market flows remained steady in July with net new assets (NNA) over the month totalling €8.7 billion, according to monthly flows analysis from Lyxor. However, fixed income flows decreased to €2.3bn, close to the lowest monthly level of the year.

Deutsche launches two strategic beta min vol ETFs

Transamerica Asset Management has launched four new strategic beta ETFs designed to provide core equity strategies with an embedded risk management feature. Called the Deltashares By Transamerica suite, the new ETFs are the first to track the S&P Manged Risk 2.0 Index Series, which offers exposure to a given segment of the equity market while seeking to control volatility.



WisdomTree Canada adds non-hedged class to Europe Hedged Equity Index ETF

First Trust Canada proposes merger of AlphaDEX Dividend and Capital Strength ETFs

WisdomTree Canada has introduced non-hedged units of the WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity Index ETF (Toronto: EHE). EHE provides exposure to dividend-paying European equities while hedging exposure to fluctuations between the euro and the Canadian dollar. The new non-hedged units, (Ticker: EHE.B), will not be hedged back to the Canadian dollar.



First Trust launches equally weighted DJIA ETF

First Trust Advisors has launched the First Trust Dow 30 Equal Weight ETF (NYSE Arca: EDOW), providing equally weighted exposure to the 30 constituents of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA). Ryan Issakainen, senior vice president, ETF strategist at First Trust Advisors, commented: “We believe that the equally weighted version of this index is a noteworthy enhancement for ETF investors, in comparison to the traditional price-weighted version.”

BlackRock has reduced the fees charged on three socially responsible ETFs and eight fixed income ETFs listed in the US. The 11 funds have total assets under management of approximately $4 billion.

Deutsche launches smart beta emerging markets bond ETF on Deutsche Börse

Deutsche Asset Management has unveiled the db x-trackers iBoxx USD Emerging Sovereigns Quality Weighted EUR-hedged UCITS ETF (XQUE) on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra and Frankfurt exchanges. The fund provides smart beta exposure to high quality emerging market government bonds while mitigating currency risk between the US dollar-denominated bonds and the ETF’s trading currency – the euro.

China tops MSCI’s country indices during bullish July

MSCI has released its index performance report for July 2017, breaking down the best and worst performing equity indices over this period by country, factor and sector. The index provider, which is one of the leading providers of equity indices to the exchange-traded fund industry, reports the highest index returns in July were achieved by China (8.9%) for country exposure in a month where the lowest return was still positive, at 0.9% for Switzerland.



Assets tracking Scientific Beta indices top $16bn

Scientific Beta introduces quality-based multi-factor indices

ERI Scientific Beta, the smart beta index provider offshoot of EDHEC Risk Institute, has announced that assets tracking its indices reached $16.5bn at the end of 30 June 2017, representing an increase of 60% over the past year. A number of ETFs track Scientific Beta indices; the largest of these is the Amundi Global Equity Multi Smart Allocation Scientific Beta UCITS ETF (Euronext: SMRT) which has approximately €500 million in AUM.
