American Century launches its first ETFs

American Century Investments has become the latest asset manager to roll out ETFs, with the launch of the the American Century STOXX US Quality Value ETF (VALQ US) and American Century Diversified Corporate Bond ETF (KORP US) on NYSE Arca. Edward Rosenberg, head of ETFs for American Century, commented: “Our goal with the launch of American Century ETFs is to provide innovative strategies that strive to deliver better outcomes for investors.”

Amundi has cross-listed the Amundi European Equity Multi Factor Market Neutral ETF (MKTN FP) onto Deutsche Börse and Borsa Italiana. The fund offers hedge-fund-like returns by providing a means for investors to gain access to the long-term potential of factor risk premia without being exposed to the overall direction of European equity markets.

Deutsche Asset Management (Deutsche AM) has announced the listing of its first set of UCITS-compliant exchange-traded funds on the Mexican Stock Exchange. ETFs are rapidly gaining importance among Latin American institutions. Moreover, they are increasingly seeking UCITS products due to their potential for tax efficiency and access to exposures and features unavailable to other ETF jurisdictions.

Fidelity introduces currency hedging on smart beta income ETFs

Fidelity International has introduced currency-hedged share classes for three of its London-listed smart beta income ETFs. Investors will now have the option of currency hedging with pound sterling on the Fidelity Europe Quality Income UCITS ETF (FEQP LN), Fidelity US Quality Income UCITS ETF (FUSP LN), and Fidelity Global Quality Income UCITS ETF (FGQP LN).

ERI Scientific Beta, a smart beta index provider and affiliate of EDHEC-Risk Institute, has jumped to the defence of factor-index investing in a strong rebuttal of a report published by investment consultants Mercer. Noël Amenc, CEO of ERI Scientific Beta, said the Mercer report was “representative of undocumented opinions on factor investing and as such is liable to misinform investors.”

China Post Global has cross-listed the Market Access iStoxx MUTB Japan Quality 150 Index UCITS ETF (MAJQ LN) on the London Stock Exchange. The ETF is the first product China Post Global has listed on the LSE since it acquired the Market Access ETFs from RBS in 2016.
