WisdomTree has expanded its product line-up with the launch of the WisdomTree US Dividend Growth ETF (DGRW). The fund has been listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market and provides exposure to dividend-paying stocks with growth characteristics. In keeping with the firm’s fundamental indexing approach, the fund will track the proprietary WisdomTree US Dividend Growth Index, a dividend-weighted index which blends characteristics of both active and passive investment styles.

Cambria Investment Management has added to its exchange-traded fund line-up with the launch of the actively managed Cambria Shareholder Yield ETF (SYLD). The fund, which has been listed on the NYSE Arca, is composed of US stocks that have historically ranked among the highest in paying cash dividends, engaging in share buybacks and paying down debt – three factors collectively known as “shareholder yield.”
Source, a London-based provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), has announced the launch of the Source Morningstar US Energy Infrastructure MLP UCITS ETF on the London Stock Exchange. The ETF is linked to the Morningstar MLP Composite Index and is the first in Europe to offer dedicated exposure to US energy infrastructure Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs), which are booming as a result of the development of unconventional energy sources such as shale gas, tight oil and tar sands.
First Trust has made its ETF debut in Canada with the launch of three AlphaDEX ETFs on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The AlphaDEX methodology is a transparent, rules-based weighting methodology designed to exploit possible mispricings and potential drawbacks of market-capitalisation-weighted benchmarks. The methodology has proved hugely popular in the US, where ETFs linked to it have accumulated assets in excess of $4 billion.
SPDR ETFs, the exchange-traded funds platform of State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), has expanded its equity income line-up with the launch of global and pan-Asian ‘Dividend Aristocrats’ ETFs on the London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse (Xetra). Scott Ebner, head of global product development at SSgA, said: “Our approach to dividend investing at SPDRs has been centred around indices that not only favour high-yielding stocks, but also focus on the sustainability of yield”.
China’s first cross-border exchange-traded fund (ETF), the Guotai Nasdaq-100 ETF (513100), has begun trading on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The fund is linked to the Nasdaq-100 Index and is sponsored by Guotai Asset Management, one of the longest-established fund management companies in China. The fund’s launch represents a significant development for the burgeoning exchange-traded product market in China.
Invesco PowerShares, a global provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), has announced the launch of the PowerShares Fundamental Emerging Markets Local Debt Portfolio ETF (PFEM). The fund provides investors with exposure to emerging market sovereign debt denominated in local currencies. Unlike most fixed income ETF indices, which typically use some form of market-cap weighting, the fund’s index is weighted based on constituent country’s economic footprint.
Indexing investment giant Vanguard has launched its intermediary business in Hong Kong and revealed plans to expand access to its products to investors throughout Asia. The firm is also set to announce the listing of its first locally domiciled exchange-traded fund (ETF), the Vanguard FTSE Asia ex-Japan Index ETF, in Hong Kong. Vanguard is the third-largest global ETF provider, with $280 billion in ETF assets.
iShares, the exchange traded funds (ETF) platform of BlackRock, has announced the expansion of its European-listed corporate bond suite with the launch of the iShares Barclays Euro Corporate Bond Financials UCITS ETF (EUCF) on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). The new ETF provides focused exposure to financial issuers such as banks. Stephen Cohen, Head of Investment Strategy and Insight EMEA at iShares, said: “The new fund provides targeted exposure to this important segment of the bond market in a single trade.”
Industry veteran Christian Magoon has teamed up with white label exchange-traded fund (ETF) provider Exchange Traded Concepts to launch YieldShares, a newly created ETF sponsor that will focus on income ETFs. The sponsor’s planned debut ETF, the YieldShares High Income ETF (YYY), will track the performance of the ISE High Income Index, an index measuring the performance of 30 closed-end funds, as selected and ranked according to factors designed to result in a portfolio that produces high current income.
